Maker Notes

This one changed the way we think of bourbon, all because one man changed the way he thought about making it. Bill Samuels, Sr., simply wanted a whisky he would enjoy drinking. Never bitter or sharp, Maker's Mark is made with soft red winter wheat, instead of the usual rye, for a one-of-a-kind, full-flavored bourbon that's easy to drink. To ensure consistency, we rotate every barrel by hand and age our bourbon to taste, not time. Each and every bottle of Maker's^® is still hand-dipped in our signature red wax at our distillery in Loretto, Ky., just like Bill, Sr., would have wanted.

Tasting Notes

AROMA: Sweet oak, vanilla, bright fruit and wheat prevail in the nose

Crater Lake Estate Rye Whiskey is a Straight American Rye Whiskey grown, distilled, and aged entirely at our distillery in Bend, Oregon. We begin with just 14 acres of legacy rye grain and lava rock filtered water. Once each year, the 100% rye mash is distilled in single batches and aged at least five years in the Central Oregon High Desert. Each bottle holds the character of that year’s rye crop honed over the years by the crisp mountain air. With only a few barrels produced each year, this is truly one of the world’s rarest rye whiskies.

With a limited production of just 2,000 cases, this beautiful tequila is bottled in a replica of the 18th Century Spanish Royal Crown.

Aging Process: Aged a minimum of two years in French Limousin oak foudres

Estate Grown: 100% Blue Weber agave, hand-harvested from our fields in the state of Guanajuato

Double Distilled: Perfected by the French in distilling Cognac, the 400 year old Charentais distillation method allows for exceptional retention of aroma and flavor

BOTANICALS

PALO SANTO: Palo Santo. A fragrant wood that has been used for medicinal purposes and in purification rituals for centuries. Traditionally considered a deeply sacred and spiritual tree which possesses a cleansing energy.

SAGE: Salvia. Curandera healers often burn sage in their practice to cleanse the body and surrounding environment of negative energies.

JASMINE: Jazmin. Thought to be one of the first plants humans cultivated purely because of its scent, jasmine flowers release their aroma as the sun sets. Gardeners often place potted jasmine on balconies and patios to perfume the warm night air.

A warming, meditative and bitter taste is left on the palate by Mexican resins palo santo and myrrh.

EXPERIENCE NOTES OF Orange and Lime

Barrell Bourbon Batch 030 began with a group of tropical fruit forward 5-year-old Indiana barrels, a group of stone fruit forward 10-year-old high-rye Tennessee barrels, and a group of nutty 6, 9, 11, and 15-year-old barrels. After mingling separately for a month, they were carefully blended together. Finally, wheated bourbon from Kentucky and Wyoming was added to enhance the complexity of the blend.

A classic wine icon for thirty vintages – one of America’s favorite Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignons.

VINEYARDS

The predominant source for our J. Lohr Estates Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon program is our vineyard located directly opposite our J. Lohr Paso Robles Wine Center, plus two newer sites just to the north (J. Lohr Sinclair and J. Lohr Jones ranches). The original Seven Oaks vineyard was planted on its own rootstock, utilizing some of the indigenous Estrella clones widely planted in Paso Robles. The soils in our vineyards vary from gravelly clay loam to limestone-based, over a relatively small parcel of land; various rootstock and clonal combinations have been used to maximize the expression of each individual site and the eventual wine’s layered complexity.

VINIFICATION

Maturation: 12 months aging in 60-gallon American oak barrels, 18% new

Barrel type: Predominantly medium-plus toasted Missouri and Minnesota oak, with toasted heads

CELLARING

Balanced and fruit forward upon release, with adequate structure to age seven years or longer.

The Atlantic meets the Mediterranean. This whisky matured in Barrels from Islay, soaked with smoky aromas and salted flavors, then blended with ex-bourbon barrel-aged single malt that was left to mature under the hot Tel Aviv sun. The Elements Peated integrates the fruity notes of the new make into the barrel’s typical Islay Peaty notes; the result is delicate, rather mellow, and lightly peated whisky.

TASTING NOTES

AROMA: Delightfully fresh. A distinct smoky, earthy scent opens to a unique balance of vanilla and oak notes, with a final hint of lemon.

PALATE: Medium bodied. Vanilla sweetness is followed by a delicate peat touch. A light spiciness accompanies ginger and lemon flavors.

FINISH: Long. The peat coats the mouth, with delicate oak and lemon flavors lingering on the tongue.

ALL OHISHI WHISKIES ARE FIRST MATURED IN EITHER SHERRY OR EX-BRANDY CASKS BEFORE BEING BOTTLED OR GOING INTO THEIR FINISHING CASKS. 

BECAUSE RICE WHISKY IS SO ELEGANT AND SOFT, IT HAS THE ABILITY TO TAKE ON CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CASK TYPE VERY QUICKLY. NO WHISKY IS RELEASED BEFORE IT IS READY AS DETERMINED BY KAZUNORI OISHI.

THE SAKURA (CHERRY BLOSSOM) TREES USED FOR THE CASKS ARE GROWN LOCALLY IN KUMAMOTO

Blended Bourbon Whiskey

The Three Chord flagship small batch is bottled at an easy-drinking 81 proof, featuring up to 12 year old whiskys from Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee to create a smooth, aromatic and versatile bourbon whiskey.

Our secondary, controlled, wood-charring process reintroduces compounds to create its maple syrup, caramel, and vanilla character. Integrating the additional toasted White American Oak staves brings depth of flavor and a hint of smokiness. We bottle our 100% blended bourbon 250 gallons at a time for a consistent flavor profile and quality taste. 

MASH BILL: 73%Corn / 20% Rye / 7% Malted Barley. We are considered a medium-high rye bourbon.

TASTING NOTES

APPEARANCE: Clear, Dark Mahogany- Pretzel.

AROMA: Maple Syrup, Caramel and Vanilla.

TASTE: Complex, grassy, slightly sweet with hints of spice that gives way to a light citrus fruit and a mild charred oak.

FINISH: A refined and lingering, honeycomb finish, with a mild hug!

Fine V.S.O.P. Cognac Blended With Pineau Des Charentes Wine

Against the backdrop of WWII, the infamous Bar Florida in Havana, Cuba created a cocktail named after the legendary entertainer Josephine Baker. With French Cognac as the main ingredient, this cocktail was an homage to one of the greatest women in world history.

Born into poverty in St. Louis in 1906, Josephine moved to France and became an overnight sensation as a film and stage actress, a singer, and a humanitarian.

Both the cocktail then, and Sephina today, celebrate Josephine’s unique and complex life as a performer who was the toast of Europe, a decorated citizen of France who spied on Germany, a philanthropist, and a civil rights activist.

Sephina has partnered with Karl Franz Williams, mixologist and owner of New York City’s legendary Harlem artisan cocktail bar 67 Orange Street, to create an exciting new cocktail series built upon Sephina’s flavor notes
