Hardy Le Coq d'Oor Pineau Des Charentes

Hardy Cognac

750 ml | 17% ABV
Brandy

Crafted from the Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard grape varieties, this white Pineau des Charentes undergoes a meticulous process. The lightly fermented grape must is skillfully blended with Cognac eau-de-vie and then aged for a minimum of five years, earning it the esteemed classification of 'Vieux Pineau.' This expression embodies the distinctive style of Hardy, characterized by its refined and subtle aroma. It delivers a harmonious fusion of freshness and smoothness. With its alluring golden color and complex palate, Hardy Pineau Blanc Le Coq d'Or presents itself as an intense, elegant, and full-bodied Pineau, perfect for both pre and post-dinner enjoyment.

As far back as 1863, the English wine and spirits merchant Anthony Hardy made a significant decision to establish himself as a Cognac trader. Embracing a more French identity, he changed his name to Antoine and founded a business as a distiller and dealer of Cognac. Within a few years, he gained recognition for the exceptional quality of his products and successfully built a robust supply of eaux-de-vie, a stroke of luck considering the impending phylloxera epidemic. Hardy persevered through the challenges and expanded his enterprise into an international network of distributors.

In the 21st century, the House of Hardy is aptly led by two remarkable women, Bénédicte and Sophie Hardy. They continue to uphold and promote their family brand across North America and Europe, maintaining the legacy of the Hardy name.

Veuve Clicquot

750 ml | 13% ABV
Champagne

LA GRANDE DAME IS A TRIBUTE TO MADAME CLICQUOT AND TO THE CREATIVE AND ELEGANT SOULS WHO HAVE FOLLOWED IN HER FOOTSTEPS

A wine to reflect the image of La Grande Dame herself. Madame Clicquot used her determination, intuition and vision to choose and aquire exceptional grand crus parcels with exceptional grapes.

Madame Clicquot believed that Pinot Noir had the broadest range of expression and potential to create the best champagne. Pinot Noir demands the very finest expertise from the Cellar Master and the winemaking team. Delicate, Pinot Noir also poses a challenge to those working in the vineyard. The Pinot Noir grape expresses itself differently depending on its terroir, exposure and the specific year’s harvest conditions.

La Grande Dame 2012 blend is made mainly from grapes from historical Grands Crus vineyards, among the most prestigious in Champagne. Pinot Noir dominates the blend at 90%, magnified by 10% Chardonnay, with grapes from Aÿ, Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay, Bouzy. The 10% Chardonnay comes from the Grands Crus Avize and Mesnil-sur-Oger.

TASTING NOTES

Initial notes of white flowers on the nose, such as jasmine, honeysuckle and vine flowers can be felt and then opens with fruitier nuances of apple, pear and peach. A few notes of fresh almond and frangipane complete the bouquet. In the mouth, the cuvée reveals more complex aromas: dried apricot, hazelnuts, honey and sugar candy. Silky textures give the wine its personality, elegance and character. The aging has imparted particular depth and power to the wine.

750 | 13% ABV
Champagne

All the know-how of our firm is revealed in its ability to reproduce each year a blend which is consistent in style and in quality. Elegant and refined, the cuvée Brut Réserve is the champagne of all occasions.

The Brut Réserve is a blend in equal parts of the three champenois grape varieties: pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay from 30 different crus. 25% reserve wines are used to produce this cuvée:

- The Pinot Noir (bringing structure, body and power) is mainly produced from some of the best crus of the Montagne de Reims.

- The Pinot Meunier (ensuring freshness, roundness and fruitiness) is issued from several crus from the Vallée de la Marne and from the Epernay area.

- The Chardonnay (adding its aromatic complexity, finesse, elegance and lightness) comes from Epernay and some of the best crus of the Côte des Blancs.

After four years ageing in our cellars, its style combines complexity, balance and distinction.

TASTING NOTES

Pol Roger Brut Réserve diplays a beautiful golden straw coloured  hue, as well as abundant and fine bubbles. With a powerful and attractive nose, it first delivers aromas of fruit (pear, mango ...) and then releases light flavours of honeysuckle and white jasmine, lingering on vanilla and brioche notes. Behind a frank and dynamic attack, the wine encompasses a nice harmony and a pleasant freshness, whilst preserving some structure. On the palate, flavours of cooked fruit (quince jelly, apricot jam) happily mingle with fragrances of beeswax and acacia honey. The long-lasting aromas, composed of both fruity (candied orange peel, tangerine...) and spicy notes (cardamom, anis) is outstanding.

TASTING NOTES

A shimmering color: Bright, pale yellow with glints of green, and fine, persistent bubbles.

A bouquet characterized by freshness: Initial notes of fresh white flowers evolve towards sweet, fragrant pastries, with occasional scents of fresh walnuts, hazelnuts and biscuits. In parallel, the fruit is crisp, freshly ripened, with aromas of pear, white peach and nectarine.

A captivating and distinctive gin that showcases the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the Irish distilling tradition. Created in the rural town of Drumshanbo in County Leitrim, Ireland, this gin pays homage to the rich history and botanical treasures of its surroundings.

At the heart of this gin lies a unique selection of botanicals, carefully chosen to create a flavor profile that is both intriguing and harmonious. The creation of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin begins with the slow and meticulous distillation of the botanicals in medieval copper pot stills. Procera African Juniper Gin

Procera

750 ml | 44% ABV
Gin

Maker Notes

At the heart of our recipe is Juniperus Procera, the only species of juniper indigenous to the southern hemisphere. Procera means “tall” in Latin and when you walk through the Procera forest of the Kenya highlands, you understand why straightaway, as you’re dwarfed by these majestic giants. Native to the highlands of Kenya, and growing only above 1500 metres above sea level, this is what makes African juniper so special. Whereas common juniper grows in temperate zones and receives only summer sun for three months a year, our Procera berries receive about seven hours of daily sunlight all year round. Situated at 2200 metres, the Kijabe forest where we harvest our juniper receives even stronger, more direct sun. Hence a richness of flavour and essential oils that only the equatorial sun can provide.

We partner with the Kijabe Forest Trust, an organisation founded to protect the native forests of Kijabe from poaching of both animals and trees. They in turn work with the local communities to collect the Procera berries once they are fully ripe at the end of the short rains around the middle of the year. We know it is time to start harvesting the juniper when the local family of baboons start veraciously devouring them due to their appetising sweetness.

The Procera berries had never been used commercially before we started harvesting them and hence we’ve had to learn everything from scratch. From where the best berries grow, to when to harvest them and how to process them, every step has been a journey of discovery. It is crucial not to let the berries ferment once collected and they must be air dried for about a week before they can be flash frozen to maintain optimal freshness and brightness for distilling throughout the entire year.

By showing the local communities that each tree has a direct monetary value each year, not only are more trees being planted but there is also a reduction in the felling of the old trees. We hope that the world comes to realise that the unparalleled sun and terroir of Kijabe creates a better juniper berry with which to make gin. We dream that in the future, “African Dry Gin” will become a designated category which: must be distilled in Africa; must use African Juniper; must use only botanicals grown on the continent. If this dream were to be realised and there were 10 more Kenyan distilleries, the future of these magnificent juniper forests would not only be assured, but the reforestation of their old habitat across the entire Kenya highlands would become much more probable.
