Royal Salute 21 years old was launched as a reference to the 21-gun salute, the tradition of firing guns to celebrate special State and Royal occasions. Its unique flagon is made of porcelain, crafted by Wade Ceramics (UK). The first flagon in 1953 was crafted by Royal Doulton.

The Balvenie DoubleWood is a 12 year old single malt which gains its distinctive character from being matured in two wood types. Over the period of maturation it is transferred from a traditional oak whisky cask to a first fill European oak sherry cask. Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting single malt ~ the traditional casks soften and add character, whilst the sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavor.

The Macallan Reflexion

BOLD IN COLOR AND FLAVOR

Reflexion is a complex single malt that has been aged in a combination of smaller hogshead casks and first-fill sherry seasoned casks made from both Spanish and American oak. This unique maturation process results in a whisky with a deep color and a flavor profile that is rich in floral and vanilla notes, with hints of fresh apples and apricots. The small size of the hogshead casks allows for a greater interaction between the wood and the whisky, resulting in a well-balanced and intricate character.

TASTING NOTES

COLOUR: Blood Orange

NOSE: Fresh zest of orange and citrus fruits. A slight waxy note fades to fresh green apples. Robust notes of chocolate, thick fudge, boiled sweets, aniseed and caramel toffees with subtle white chocolate truffles. Fresh bananas and sweet oak arrives last.

PALATE: Initial light citrus zest with new oak gives way to the succulent sweetness of lemon and orange. Raisin, sultana and apple, with a hint of cinnamon and ginger, are subtle.

FINISH: Boiled sweets add balance to a glimpse of toasted oak to give a medium and soft finish.

The first decade of 20th century America saw Chivas 25 burst onto the scene. Alongside the flittering milieu of grand parties and theatrical attractions of Broadway, this luxury whisky took pride of place among the high society of New York. But Prohibition followed in 1920, cutting our 25-year-old Scotch whisky’s reign short. In 2007, we reignited this remarkable blend to recreate the iconic tastes and textures that lay within the original luxury whisky. The pinnacle of blended Scotch whisky was reborn and remains a legend today.

About the Brand

The Store begins in 1822 in remote and isolated Livet valley that made it ideal for illicit distillation. This is where our founder George Smith learned his craft. Hidden away from the Customs Officers and soldiers amongst the hills and abundant springs, George had time to distill slowly making a whisky that would soon become world renowned. In August 1822, King George IV arrived in Scotland for a state visit and asked to try a drop of the infamous Glenlivet whisky. An illegal dram it was, but even that didn’t stop the King. 

By the late ‘30’s, The Glenlivet distillery was producing more than 200 gallons a week. This expansion meant our founder would soon need more employees. A few years later, Andrew Ushers & Sons of Edinburgh joined as sales agents, helping spread the word of the whisky.

To this day we continue George Smith's vision to break traditions, set new standards and move things forward; selecting exceptional unique casks, finishes and liquids and delivering unique serves and cocktails to open up the world of single malt to all.

Our Glenlivet 12 Year has been called a lot of things in its time: smooth, fruity, complex, sophisticated, entertaining, classic. The Original Malt Whisky Almanac says: “A first-class malt. One of the most popular malts in the world – deservedly so.” Representing The Glenlivet’s signature style, this classic malt is first matured in traditional oak, before spending time in American oak casks which impart notes of vanilla and gives the whisky it’s distinctive smoothness. The mineral-rich water that comes from Josie’s Well helps form the flavors during mashing and fermentation, whilst the specific height and width of the copper stills add a delicate yet complex character. The origin of this whisky's deep and satisfying flavor stems from a maturation technique pioneered by The Glenlivet, known as Selective Maturation.

A portion of the mature spirit is transferred to virgin oak casks made from French Limousin oak, the same casks that are used for maturing fine French wines and cognacs. This genus of oak adds spiciness, without being overpowering.

The Glenlivet's Master Distiller, Alan Winchester, has a wealth of quality casks to choose from when creating this complex expression, each of which has rested a minimum of 18 years in oak. The mix of casks - American and European oak, first and second fill - all play their parts to create this whisky, our single most awarded expression, and its unique character. The European oak adds spicy notes and complexity and the first-fill American oak casks add the tropical fruitiness that makes it unmistakably The Glenlivet in style. Its golden hue bears testimony to its 18 years very well spent maturing.

Creating this exceptional whisky requires craftsmanship and mastery of centuries old traditions.

The finest raw ingredients, mastery of the art of distilling premier spirits and the selection of only the finest oak casks, each over 25 years of age and chosen at the peak of maturation.

The casks are married together in batches and then finished in sherry casks for final flourish of spice, depth and complexity.

All our single malts are made with the best local ingredients of barley and soft water from nearby mountain, Ben Rinnes. Our expertly crafted new spirit is usually matured for a minimum of 12 years both in the finest hand-picked Oloroso Sherry butts and American Oak barrels. It’s this double cask maturation which subtly brings together the characteristics of each cask to create a truly rich and rewardingly complex range of single malts.
