2007 Oban double-matured in ex-bodega Montilla Fino cask wood for a rich fruitiness and maritime flavors that bond with the fresh, sweet aromas and tastes of the regular release in an explosive, rich and deep expression of Oban. Oban Distillers Edition won Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2008 and 2011. It also won International Wine and Spirit Competition Gold in 2002 and 2010 (Best in Class). In 2020, it won a third Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE: Outstanding. Fruity and pungent; salty sea breezes, grapes, orange, hints of smoke - massively complex.

PALATE: Most explosive Oban ever. Soft malt, wave upon wave of delicate yet rich fruit carried on a salty tide.

FINISH: Sweetened Jamaican coffee and oak, with an attractive malt-biscuit effect as it dies down.

In the stillness of our quiet glen, we know that patience is rewarded. nothing is rushed and every stage of our whisky-making process is given as long as it needs. uniquely-shaped stills nurse the simmering wash during the longest distillation of any Scottish whisky, prolonged contact with the copper coaxing sweet and fruity notes from the gently rolling vapors. that's why our barley is only ever dried by air, allowing the true Glengoyne spirit to shine through.

From here the precious spirit is transferred to casks made to order from European and American oak, themselves prepared for six years before they're ready to carry our whisky to maturity. the natural color of the whisky is a testament to decades within the wood alone. nothing else is added, this is how we craft a whisky unlike any other. this is the Glengoyne way

Glengoyne Cask Strength

Bottled at the strength it emerges from the cask, this delicious amber gold dram is un-chillfiltered, unfussed, and untamed; the closest you’ll get to open the cask yourself. 

On the nose, you’re met with baked lemon, rich sticky toffee pudding, malt biscuits, plum, hazelnut, and an unmistakable hit of zesty apple. To taste, expect a weighty mouthful of rich vanilla and fresh fruits that develop into poached pears with cinnamon spice and a drizzle of honey. The finish is long and rewarding, with Medjool dates, apricot, toffee, and honey.

TASTING NOTES

APPEARANCE: Amber Gold

NOSE: On the nose, you’re met with baked lemon, rich sticky toffee pudding, malt biscuits, plum, hazelnut, and an unmistakable hit of zesty apple.

Spicy vanilla fruit, ripe apples and a rich, luxurious mouthfeel. This is the result of 18 long years and a generous proportion of first-fill sherry casks. And of the patience we take over the slowest distillation in Scotland.

TASTING NOTES

COLOUR: Medium gold with a rich glow.

NOSE: Awash with red apple, ripe melon and fresh banana. Heavenly and well rounded, it drifts into hot porridge topped with brown sugar.

PALATE: Full bodied, round and rich. At first macerated fruits, marzipan and walnuts; then warm spices, dry cocoa and lingering Seville marmalade.

Tamdhu was born in 1897, on the banks of the River Spey. Now, as then, every drop is crafted with the same care - starting with water drawn from our own spring. In 1898 our founders created another Tamdhu tradition, securing a first precious shipment of sherry casks from Spain. Today, Tamdhu matures exclusively in the finest Oloroso sherry casks, nothing less. This scarce wood bears two great gifts: colour and taste.
