The Dewar’s 19 Year Old Champion’s Edition returns for 2023, as Dewar’s enters its third year as the Official Scotch Whisky of the U.S. Open. This year’s edition was created by Four-Time Master Blender of the Year Stephanie Macleod in partnership with the USGA. To honor the site of the 2023 Tournament at the Los Angeles Country Club, the 2023 19 Year Old Champion’s Edition is double-aged and finished in Napa Valley red wine casks.

This gives it an enviably smooth, complex profile that’s rich with notes of dark red fruits, ripe cherries, and nutmeg. It’s everything great about golf and scotch whisky in one, and a fitting tribute to the best of the best.

Forty years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, George A. Dickel was born in a rural town in eastern Tennessee. By 1867, Dickel was an established Nashville merchant but moved his family to the city of Tullahoma (situated in south-central Tennessee), where he purchased the Cascade Hollow Distillery. After working tirelessly at the distillery, Dickel declared that his spirits were of equal quality to the finest scotch, and followed in the Scottish tradition of spelling whisky without an "e". While George A. Dickel Distillery was forced to close its doors as a result of Prohibition, it was rebuilt in 1958 by Master Distiller Ralph Dupps. To ensure the whisky's authenticity, Dupps obtained the original manuscripts in which Dickel detailed his unique recipe and distillation processes. Today, Master Blender and distiller Nicole Austin carries on the tradition of excellence that has made Dickel whisky a symbol of quality for over a century. George Dickel Hand Selected is their private barrel program. The sour-mash whiskey employs the Lincoln County Process, which is a type of charcoal filtering that is typical of Tennessee whiskey. This expression was aged for 9 years, then bottled at 103 proof, making for an exceptionally well-balanced single-barrel whiskey.

The Hazelburn single malt whisky pays homage to a former Campbeltown distillery, once the largest in the area, which operated from the early 18th century until 1925.

Springbank distillery, licensed since 1828, embarked on triple-distilled spirit production in 1997. In 2005, the inaugural bottling of Hazelburn whisky, an 8-year-old expression, marked the brand's inception. Little Book Chapter 7, “In Retrospect,” is the seventh chapter in the Little Book Whiskey series. “In Retrospect” offers any curious whiskey drinker a chance to explore where American Whiskey can go by looking back to where it’s been. Now, with six chapters written, the seventh chapter of Little Book pushes the story ahead, building on what’s come before in ways not yet seen. Little Book Chapter 7 is a blend of seven different liquid streams, blending one liquid from each of the previous chapters, then adding a record seventh. “In Retrospect” is a nod to the past but also sets the course for what’s next, not only for Little Book, but Freddie’s continued journey as Eighth Generation Master Distiller of the Fred B. Noe Distillery.

This particular Canadian whiskey is currently exclusive to the German market. It comprises a blend of 10-12% rye whiskey mixed with a base whiskey that has undergone a minimum ten-year maturation in used Canadian, ex-bourbon, and new white oak barrels. Distilled in Canada and aged for a minimum of three years, Canadian whiskies often, though not always, consist of separate distillation and maturation of corn, barley, and rye components. The cask types involved include Canadian, ex-bourbon, and new white oak. As for the tasting experience, expect to encounter notes of almond, caramel toffee, orange, and dusty oak, which lead to a palate featuring nuttiness, vanilla, rye spice, and more caramel. Despite its robust flavor profile, the whiskey maintains a gentle side, effectively balancing the flavors for a peppery finish marked by J.P. Wiser's signature touch of orange pith.
