The History of Wuliangye

A Chinese baijiu liquor dating back to the Ming Dynasty. The ancient production process,  combined with modern techniques and with a production in a unique natural eco-environment results in a top-quality brewed spirit. Thanks to its special mingle of 5 different cereals : broomcorn, rice, glutinous rice, wheat and corn, stirred by ” Baobaoqu” (a kind of saccharified yeast starter), the Wuliangye Liquor gets its strong aromatic and lasting flavor.

 Wuliangye

This superior spirit still follows the traditional production process, from fermentation in the aged cellars & years-long brewing to a final appropriate blending. The ancient cellar group of Wuliangye is China’s oldest existing crypt-type fermentation pits group, passed down from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D.). The Wuliangye Company Group, also known as the ‘King of Chinese Liquor Industry’, is situated on the bank of the Minjiang River, north of Yibin City, Sichuan Province in South-West China. It is known as the “First Major City along the Yangtze River”.

Since Wuliangye was awarded the gold prize at the Panama International Exposition in 1915, it has won more than 100 international awards, including ‘National Famous Liquor’, ‘National Quality Management Award’, the ‘Best Credit Enterprise in China’, the ‘Centennial Expo’ & the ‘100 Year Golden Award’. In 2008, the traditional baijiu-making techniques of Wuliangye were listed as a national intangible cultural heritage. About the Brand

Our company’s history begins in 1885, when the descendants of Don Antonio Faustino de Aceves y Casillas built Hacienda La Capilla. Don Antonio Aceves, better known as “Amo Aceves” was the founder of Capilla de Guadalupe, a town that got its name from the town chapel, built in honor of the “Virgin of Guadalupe”. This town rests under the shade of the Cerro Gordo, in the heart of Jalisco Highs, at 7290 feet above sea level, providing excellent conditions for the growing of agave, such as moderate climate and volcanic ground. Don Antonio was a hardworking man and a passionate promoter of quality. His descendants took advantage of the local Agave farming and formally started the company Hacienda la Capilla S.A. de C.V. in the year 1993. Since those days, the growth of agave has been its core business. La Adelita is a partnership bringing a renowned award winning vintner together with a generational family and visionaries in Mexico to create a uniquely pure and traditional tequila that is a 100% estate program.

Willett Family Estate 19 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon #1582 111.8 Proof

Kentucky Bourbon Distillers are the owners of the Willett distillery in Bardstown. Willett distillery was built in 1936, just a few years after the repeal of National Prohibition by Lambert Willett, a former distiller for Max Selliger & Co. The distillery was initially a success, principally through its Old Bardstown and Johnny Drum brands, however it was hit hard by the bourbon slump of the 1970s. The result was an ill-advised move into producing ethanol for the production of "gasohol," spurred by the 1979 energy crises. When that market re-stabilised, Willett was left floundering and eventually closed in the early 1980s. Lambert's granddaughter, Martha Willett and her husband, Even Kulsveen, then purchased the distillery and established Kentucky Bourbon Distillers in 1984. They originally bottled the remaining barrels of 1970s-distilled stock, however as that gradually diminished, they began sourcing barrels from other producers in order to replenish it, becoming one of the most important independent bottlers in Kentucky. The majority of their barrels were believed to have come from neighbouring Heaven Hill, and with these casks they developed a wealth of important brands, including the Willett Family Estate, Noah's Mill and Rowan's Creek. In addition, they contract-bottled brands for other companies, such as the Very Olde St Nick and Black Maple Hill brands. Revered for the quality of their whiskey, their products have become some of the most collectible to come out of Kentucky.
