The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Gift Pack with Two Glasses

The Glenlivet

750 ml | 40% ABV
Whiskey | Scotch

About the Brand

The Store begins in 1822 in remote and isolated Livet valley that made it ideal for illicit distillation. This is where our founder George Smith learned his craft. Hidden away from the Customs Officers and soldiers amongst the hills and abundant springs, George had time to distill slowly making a whisky that would soon become world renowned. In August 1822, King George IV arrived in Scotland for a state visit and asked to try a drop of the infamous Glenlivet whisky. An illegal dram it was, but even that didn’t stop the King.

By the late ‘30’s, The Glenlivet distillery was producing more than 200 gallons a week. This expansion meant our founder would soon need more employees. A few years later, Andrew Ushers & Sons of Edinburgh joined as sales agents, helping spread the word of the whisky.

To this day we continue George Smith's vision to break traditions, set new standards and move things forward; selecting exceptional unique casks, finishes and liquids and delivering unique serves and cocktails to open up the world of single malt to all.

Our Glenlivet 12 Year has been called a lot of things in its time: smooth, fruity, complex, sophisticated, entertaining, classic. The Original Malt Whisky Almanac says: “A first-class malt. One of the most popular malts in the world – deservedly so.” Representing The Glenlivet’s signature style, this classic malt is first matured in traditional oak, before spending time in American oak casks which impart notes of vanilla and gives the whisky it’s distinctive smoothness. The mineral-rich water that comes from Josie’s Well helps form the flavors during mashing and fermentation, whilst the specific height and width of the copper stills add a delicate yet complex character. Keep a bottle on hand for every occasion.

Ardbeg AN OA The BBQ Smoker Edition Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Ardbeg

750 ml | 46.6% ABV
Whiskey | Scotch

Hunt down a grill and gather your ancestors, because the Ardbeg BBQ Smoker is bringing the everyday cookout into a new age!

This gift pack includes one BBQ Smoker and one bottle of Ardbeg An Oa – the perfect spirit for sippin’ and tearin’. Small but mighty, the smoker lets you surround your food with smoke in just a few easy steps. Simply fill the puck with wood chips, lay it at the back of your grill, wait until your BBQ is sufficiently smoky, place your food around the puck, smoke it out some more, and voilà!

Once your food is smoked, cooked, and practically falling off the bone, all that’s left to do is plate up and pair with a delectably smooth dram of Ardbeg An Oa.

Color: Light Gold

Aroma: Rounded and smoky – like burning Applewood – with creamy toffee, aniseed, treacle and dates. A curious suggestion of juicy fruits, such as peach and banana. With a drop of water, reminders of Ardbeg’s classic fragrance – lime, pine resin, fennel, saddle soap and tar. A gentle waxiness, such as fragrant candle wax, and hints of smoked herbs. An Oa gives a final subtle reminder of the sea with briny notes and seaweed, accompanied by a delectable creaminess.

Tates: A smooth, creamy texture leads into a bold syrupy sweetness, flavours of milk chocolate, treacle toffee, aniseed, orange and smoky tea leaves. Gentle, sweet spices (nutmeg & cinnamon), some cigar smoke, and a unique note of grilled artichokes. Wood is always present in the spirit, gently nutty and reminiscent of a carpenter’s workshop.

Finish: Lingering, seductive, gentle yet intense, with flavours of aniseed, hickory and subtle smoke.

ARDBEG AN OA

Ardbeg An Oa’s rounded and subtly smoky aromas make it the prime spirit for toasting by the BBQ. With notes of thick cigar smoke, roasted tea leaves and grilled artichokes, this whisky is the perfectly peaty dance partner for your smoky culinary creations.

COMPANY ARCHIVES

From the middle of the 19th century, John Crabbie blended his own range of whiskies. In addition to procuring large stocks of Scottish single malt whisky, from some of the finest distilleries, Crabbie signed licences to produce his own whiskies at distilleries such as Balmanech and Benrinnes. However, his commitment to the field of whisky industry stretched further, as he became involved in the creation of one of Scotland’s most iconic grain distilleries, North British, sitting on its board in its formative years. Company archives reveal hand-written record of sales sheets to companies as far afield as New York, Buenos Aires, Constantinople, and St. Vincent.

Crabbie’s glory years span from the 1830s. These were pioneering times, and it seems John Crabbie and his successors were possessed of the same self-confidence as other famous explorers were responsible for building The British Empire. Using the Port of Leith in Edinburgh as its base, the company sent its products to the world – also seeking to bring the finest world products back to Scotland. Records show that its team of drinks makers was experimenting with a vast array of fruit, grains, herbs, spices and spirits – creating new and exciting beverages.

Yardhead is the single malt whisky designed for mixing as well as sipping. Exclusively bottled from first fill bourbon casks creates a versitile flavour profile – perfect for highballs and modern whisky cocktails.

Named after the site in Leith, Edinburgh, where John Crabbie’s original distillery was located.

Tasting Notes

GAME OF THRONES House Baratheon Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Limited Edition

Game of Thrones

750 ml | 40% ABV
Whiskey | Scotch

Royal Lochnagar 12 Year House Baratheon is one of eight single malts Scotch whiskies made to commemorate the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones. Set to hit shelves in the fall of 2018, this 12 year-old single malt features the sigil for House Baratheon--a crowned black stag.

Distillery: Royal Lochnagar Distillery

Detailed Description

Royal lineage drives the iconic pairing between House Baratheon and Royal Lochnagar. Similar to Robert Baratheon ruling the Seven Kingdoms upon the Iron Throne, Royal Lochnagar was deemed a whisky worthy of a royal family as it was granted a Royal Warrant after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert visited the distillery in 1848. Balanced with delicate fruits and spices, this taste of royalty is best enjoyed neat. Light notes of oak and sweet liquorice that develops into a rich, creamy vanilla coffee and finishes with a mild nutmeg custard note. These iconic whiskies serve as must-have collectibles for Game of Thrones and whisky adorers.

Distillery Information

Everything about the plant, especially its two small stills and worm tubs, point to this being a classic, heavy 19th century site. Instead, its distilling team work to make it light. The wort from a rake and plough mash tun manages to be clear (which is not easy to achieve). Ferments are long, but it is the way in which the stills and worms are utilised which makes the difference.Distillation is slow to maximise reflux and the stills doors are opened after distillation to allow air in to rejuvenate the copper. Meanwhile, the worm tubs are run warm. All of this maximises copper conversation and produces a new make with the aroma of dry grass, a background of fruit and mid-palate depth. It is this weight which allows the bulk of the make to be aged in ex-Sherry butts.
